Emilio lives in a beautiful City by the Water, with a family and community who loves him.
His best friend is a little brown cat named Pequeñito.
Emilio always knew he was different.
But is being different a bad thing?
No, it is not!
As a matter of fact, being different makes you special.
And being special is why Emilio thinks it's so important to celebrate Pride.

Dedication
Emilio's First Pride is dedicated to the memory of Ivory Nicole Smith. Ivory's untimely death at the beginning of 2023 was devastating to our circle of friends and the SF LGBTQ+ community.
You may recognize her as one of the models from the Know Our Place campaign, displayed in BART stations and other public places.
Ivory was also a program associate at the Trangender District and a member of the Trans Advisory Committee with San Francisco's Office of Transgender Initiatives.
She is greatly missed.
Emilio's First Pride is a story based on true events with beautiful illustrations. This children's book also includes a glossary of helpful terms like identity and expression.
Printed board books are estimated to begin shipping out by July 15, 2024.
